The Association of Mine Managers’ of SA has as its vision and objectives to promote and uphold the general advancement of the mining industry. To this extent, and as stated in our code of professional conduct for our members, members of the AMMSA will have due regard to public safety and interests.
In this all-encompassing statement, the safety and health of all mining employees under the members’ management will be paramount to adhering to the objectives of the Association. This will entail that members of the Association comply with adequate risk management in ensuring their duties to their employer are always carried out in a safe, efficient and competent manner.
This dual obligation, both to the employer, and maintaining the ideals and objectives of the Association, will ensure that consistent effort is directed at maintaining an ongoing and improving safe and healthy environment in which our members operate.
The vision and objectives for Sustainable Development of our Association subscribe to the policies, procedures, ethics and codes of conduct practiced by the Chamber of Mines as the employers’ representative, and that of the State, with the focus on building a sustainable future, and reducing the negative impacts on society and the environment.
Our Association will strive to act in a responsible, facilitative and co-operative manner to ensure that the economic development of our country is done in a sustainable manner together with our employers, the State and society at large.
The objectives of Sustainable Development dovetail and align themselves with the creation of safe and healthy environments; reducing negative impacts on the environment; creating value-adding businesses to assist society in general and to ultimately impact on poverty alleviation, water, energy, health, agriculture and biodiversity.

The President and a 18 member Council, who are elected annually, and now includes the Northern Cape, administer the affairs of the Association.
